Influenza Information 2020

Eligibility for influenza vaccination

Patients under 75 years or patients under 64 years and at risk

We will hold a flu day on Wednesday 28th October. To ensure patient safety with social distancing we are offering appointments which must be booked in advance. This can be done on our website for patients who have registered for online services. If this is not possible, please contact reception. We will operate a walk-through vaccinating system so an appointment may take up to 15 minutes. We will hold additional clinics in November for any patients who are unable to attend.

Patients over 75 years

The practice will contact you directly to arrange an appointment in October.

Housebound patients

The Community Vaccination Team will be visiting during October and November. Patients will be contacted by the practice directly.

Shielding patients

If you have previously received a shielding letter, you will be contacted to attend the flu clinic at Dalkeith Art Centre, 2 White Hart Street, Dalkeith. The clinic is for over 12's only and vaccination will be offered to household contacts.

School age children

School children will receive flu vaccinations at school as usual.

Children aged 2-5 years

If you live in Midlothian and your child is between 2yrs & 5yrs and not yet at school, please call 07766922751 to arrange a vaccination. Office open between 9am & 12pm until 27/11/20.

Patients aged 55-64

Vaccines are due to arrive in December for the national second phase of the influenza campaign. We will update patients nearer this time with appointment details.

Your local pharmacy

If you are not in the above NHS categories, you can receive a flu vaccine at your local pharmacy for a small fee. Please contact them directly for further information.

Please stay safe on arrival...

Do not attend if you have a continuous cough, a high temperature or have lost your sense of smell or taste.

Please attend the Welfare Hall (beside reception, front door) strictly at your allocated time, where you will be met by a member of staff.

You will proceed along a socially distanced queue until you receive your vaccine in one of our consultation rooms.

You will be directed to leave the building through the side door using the one way system.

Please wear a face mask at all times and respect social distancing. Hand sanitiser stations will be available for use.

Please dress practically. Coats should be removed and sleeves rolled up so that vaccines can be administered swiftly.

Thank you
